We are a Small Accountancy Practice, fully qualified, and fully regulated by
The Institute of Financial Accountants, and our mission is to provide professional and affordable accountancy and taxation services. We are specifically aimed at the Smaller Business.
Why Choose Us?
We provide affordable accounting services designed for small businesses and individuals - whether you’re a Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited Company, or simply need expert help with your self-assessment tax return.
Many business owners choose to switch to us after experiencing rising fees and poor communication elsewhere. We focus on personal service, transparency, and reliability - ensuring you always deal with the same dedicated accountant and can reach us when you need to.
We understand that running a business can be demanding, so we make things easy. We’ll meet you at your home, office, or local coffee shop - wherever suits you best. Evening and weekend appointments are available too, giving you the flexibility to focus on your business.
Already with another accountant? We’ll handle the handover process for you at no extra cost.
Competitive and Transparent Fees
As a local accountant for small businesses, we keep our fees low by operating efficiently without unnecessary overheads. This means competitive pricing without compromising on quality or professionalism. Our fees are always fair, transparent, and tailored to your needs — not based on the size of your turnover or balance sheet.
Get in touch today for a free, no-obligation consultation and quote to see how we can help you save time, reduce costs, and stay compliant - all while getting the personal service your business deserves.
Should you choose not to become a client after the initial consultation, any advice given orally in that intial consultation is not intended to be relied upon unless confirmed in writing by M Watson Accountancy Services Ltd.

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA) was first announced in 2015 and has since been postponed several times. It is now scheduled to launch in April 2026. M Watson Accountancy Services is already well prepared for this upcoming change.
As MTD for ITSA approaches, I will continue to work closely with my software providers and clients to ensure a smooth and fully compliant transition.
MTD transition criteria will be based on your 2024/2025 Tax Return figures and determined by your total Self-Employed Income and Rental Income. If your combined gross income from these sources is £50,000 or more, you will need to enrol for MTD from April 2026.
MTD does not currently apply to Partnerships, but it will apply to individual partners if they have Self-Employed or Rental Income outside of the Partnership.
MTD does not currently apply to other individuals (for example, Company Directors) but it will apply if they have Self-Employed or Rental Income outside of the Directorship.
MTD does not currently affect Limited Companies.
MTD criteria will extend to those earning over £30,000 gross, based on the 2025/2026 Tax Return.
MTD criteria will extend further to those earning over £20,000 gross, based on the 2026/2027 Tax Return.
If you are required to join MTD, you must submit quarterly updates to HMRC using MTD-compatible software by the following deadlines:
Over recent years, I had already begun preparing for MTD, as it was initially expected to go live earlier.
If I handle your bookkeeping and quarterly MTD updates, then you are already set to go. For all others;
